Meet Dr. Brian Hartman

Dr. Hartman graduated from Dimond High School in 1991 and, apart from college in Boulder and dental school in Portland, has never called anywhere but Anchorage home. He’s been practicing orthodontics here since 2001 — long enough to have straightened the smiles of kids who are now bringing in kids of their own.

Outside the office, you’re more likely to find him in a cockpit than on a golf course — usually flying his Super Cub and exploring the country around Bristol Bay.

When the weather cooperates, he’s out with a camera — some of his landscape and aerial work is shot under his own label, Alaska Born Images. The ski-plane parked on a glacier on our homepage is one of his.

It’s not really a coincidence that a man who spends his weekends trusting instruments and waiting on the right light is also exceptional at orthodontics. Both run on the same instinct: pay close attention, move deliberately, and don’t rush what’s worth doing right.

He lives in Anchorage with his wife, Kristy, and their two kids, Thomas and Taylor — pictured with him below.
