Kids & Early Treatment

A first evaluation around age 7 catches crowding, crossbite, and jaw-growth issues while there's still room to guide them.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first evaluation by age 7. Most kids we see at that age don't need any treatment yet — we're watching how the jaw is growing and whether there's room for incoming adult teeth.

When early treatment is needed, it's usually to guide jaw growth or correct a crossbite while there's still room to work with — not to avoid braces later. Most of these kids still need a second phase of treatment as teenagers, just a simpler one.

A first visit is a quick, no-pressure exam. If nothing needs attention yet, we'll just see you again in a year.
